Jul. 12th, 2009 01:25 am[It was hot in the forest. Even with the shade provided by the foliage, the sun beat mercilessly upon the skin of his bare chest. That in itself was alarming, as Hisoka made it a point to never bare his chest, ashamed of the cursed scars carved into his flesh. As the haze of sleep gave way to alertness, the next thing Hisoka noticed was how very little there was to notice. He was accustomed to the ambient thoughts and surface emotions flitting through his skin, but here, in this forest? Nothing. It was oddly isolating. It wasn't quite the "Mother and Father said I'm the spawn of Satan and need to be kept away from normal people" level of isolating, but still a particular kind of loneliness that he oftentimes proclaimed to want but didn't know how to react now that he had it. It was the loudest silence he'd ever heard.
It was troubling that Tsuzuki wasn't here. He didn't bother calling for his partner, though, since obviously if he was within earshot Hisoka would've sensed him. But since he was sharing a hotel room with said partner when he'd gone to bed the evening prior, it meant very clearly that he'd been abducted. But by whom and for what reason? Hisoka supposed that was the point. With a sigh, he picked up the book that lay beside him, assuming that his captor had some sense of humor tied to ambiguous clues, and stood. There was a river, and rivers tended to lead places. It was just a matter of following it until something happened. Perhaps something would be alive somewhere and do something about the sudden psychic emptiness he found himself facing.
Was the book making noise, though? Seriously? Although it made about as much sense as anything else this morning, it was still odd. Hisoka flipped through the pages curiously, quirking an eyebrow at the scribbles and chatter within.]
This is what passes for a magic book these days? [It looked more like someone scribbling in someone else's yearbook. ]
